Description

GDOT has begun its planned widening of the SR 14 Spur, known locally as S. Davis Road, from just south of the Lafayette Parkway (SR 109) intersection to Hogansville Road, including the bridge over the CSX Railroad.

The plan includes two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction with a 24-foot median with 10-foot outside shoulders. Existing traffic signals will be upgrades, and additional left turn lanes will be added to the southbound and eastbound approaches to the Lafayette Parkway intersection.

The project aims to address traffic and aging infrastructure in LaGrange – though part of the road skirts the city limit – but it will result in dozens of surrounding property owners losing some land. More than 40 parcels will be affected, and the result may be more damaging than GDOT lets on.
