Description

Fayette County is planning on making corridor improvements along GA-85, HWY 279  and Corinth Road. The project (#00178913) will mainly consist of re-arrangement of the intersections at  GA-85 & HWY 279 as well as GA-85 & Corinth Road to allow for reduced traffic delays through the corridor.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) PI No. 0017813 proposes to improve 1.33 miles of the GA-85, from its intersections with HWY 279 and Corinth Road located in Fayette County, Georgia. The project will include intersection improvements, widening, shoulder improvements, horizontal geometric and operational improvements to accommodate the anticipated traffic along the corridor. The proposed project is expected to improve mobility, provide pedestrian and bike connectivity, reduce crash frequency and/or severity, and reduce congestion .

The project limits begin west of the intersection of HWY 279 and Old Road and extend approximately 0.5 miles east to the intersection of HWY 279 and  GA-85. The corridor includes approximately 0.7 miles of GA-85 between HWY 279 and the median opening just south of Corinth Road. The project includes approximately 0.4 miles of Corinth Road traveling east from its intersection with GA-85 to just south of Corinth Drive.

Business and homeowner concerns

More than 30 parcels will be affected by the project. Even the smallest taking could render a property unlivable or in violation of county building codes and regulations.

There may be drainage and utility easements taken, damages for total takings, and partial takings that may entitle landowners to severance damages.

What to do if your property is affected

Even though the government can take your land, you still have rights. The government has projected that it has set aside $5,490,000 for right-of-way acquisition.

The Georgia Constitution requires the government to compensate property owners when it takes their land. Remember this: when you receive your offer, you’re not required to accept it! In our experience, your property is likely worth significantly more than government’s initial offer.

You have the right to fair compensation. The initial offer is just the beginning – as long as you do not accept it. You can fight for more. Call 1-888-391-1339 or contact us as soon as possible for a complimentary case evaluation.

We do not take a fee unless we increase the government’s offer, and our fee only comes from the increased amount – this is our no fee guarantee.2 The initial offer is entirely yours regardless of what you do next or what we may be able to obtain.

Further, we front the costs of fighting your case and if we’re unable to increase the government’s offer to you, you don’t pay them. We do. That is how confident we are that we can assist you.

evaluation today.

There are only a handful of attorneys in GA who practice eminent domain exclusively. And even fewer with DOT experience. That’s why it’s always worth it to get a free case evaluation.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell us about your situation.

2) We research your property as needed, using DOT maps, our own technology, and experience to see the exact effects.

3) We let you know what we think a fair offer would be. This evaluation is free, and there’s no
pressure or obligation to hire us after.

But please don’t wait to act. Waiting can hurt your case, and the cost is the same: free.
